You name it, Shaquille O'Neal accomplished it during his 3 years in Baton Rouge. 1990 Associated Press Player of the Year, 2 time Consensus All American, and 2 time SEC Player of the Year. Simply put he was a force to be reckoned with and the main reason the LSU Tigers came into the 1991-1992 season with high hopes.
Dale Brown's team would finish the season 20-9, 12-4 in the SEC which was good enough to earn the Tigers a #7 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament where they would lose their 2nd round game to #2 seed Indiana Hoosiers.
Shaq finished the year with averages of 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks per game. He would later become the #1 pick of the 1992 NBA Draft.
"He was a special cat, man. They just don't come around. I don't know if there will ever be another one. The size and the power he possessed. The mindset and the attitude. How smart of a guy he was. He was something special. He really was."
